今天的小故事，是来自《牛津阅读树》的《Kipper和巨人》，主人公Biff、Chip和Kipper和他们的爸爸妈妈还有小狗Floopy生活在伦敦，他们还有两个好朋友Wilf和Wilma。5个小伙伴有一把神奇的钥匙，每当钥匙发光，孩子们就会开启一段奇妙的探险之旅！

在今天的故事里，Kipper进行了一次有趣的冒险。在那里，他突然从一个小男孩变成了一个巨人。这到底是怎么回事呢？我们一起来看看吧~

Kipper was watching television.

Kipper在看电视。

He was watching a programme called ‘The angry giant’.

他在看一档叫做《愤怒的巨人》的电视节目。

He liked the programme.

他非常喜欢这个节目。

The angry giant lived in a castle near a village.

那个愤怒的巨人住在村庄附近的城堡里。

Nobody in the village liked the giant.

村里所有人都不喜欢这个巨人。

He was always cross.

他总是发脾气。

When the giant was cross he stamped his feet and the houses shook.

每次发脾气时，他就用力跺脚，房子都振动了。

‘Oh no!’ everyone said.

“哦，不是吧！”大家都说，

‘He’s cross again. He’s always cross.’

“他又发脾气了！他又生气了！”

Kipper went to find Chip but he was out.

Kipper去找Chip，但是Chip不在家。

He picked up the magic key and it began to glow.

于是他拿起魔法钥匙。

‘Ooh! ‘ said Kipper.

钥匙开始发光，“哦！”Kipper说。

He ran to get Biff but she was out with Chip.

他跑去找Biff，但是Biff也跟Chip出去了。

The magic began to work.

魔法开始起作用。

It took Kipper inside the magic house.

Kipper被带进了魔法世界。

The magic took Kipper to the gate of the giant’s castle.

魔法把Kipper带到了巨人城堡的门口。

Kipper was frightened.

Kipper吓坏了。

He saw a signpost.

Kipper看到了一个路标。

It pointed to the village.

指向村庄的方向。

He didn’t want to meet the giant,so he went to the village.

他不想去见巨人，所以他向村庄走去。

Kipper came to the village but it was tiny.

Kipper来到村庄里，却发现村庄非常小。

Kipper was a giant.

在那里Kipper就是巨人。

‘Oh no!’ said Kipper.

“天啊，不会吧！”Kipper说。

‘Go away,’ yelled the people.

“走开！”村民们大吼。

‘We don’t want you. We’ve got one giant.

我们不欢迎你！已经有一个巨人了！

We don’t want another one’.

我们不想再有第二个！

The people threw things at Kipper.

村民们朝Kipper扔东西打他。

‘Go away,’ they yelled.

“走开！”村民们仍在继续大吼。

‘We don’t want another giant.

我们不想再有一个巨人！

We don’t want you.

我们不欢迎你！

‘Stop it,’ shouted Kipper.

“别打了”，Kipper喊道。

‘I’m not a giant, I’m a boy.’

“我不是巨人，我是个男孩。”

The people said, ‘Well, you look like a giant.’

村民们说“但是，你看起来像一个巨人。”

Kipper began to cry.

Kipper哭起来了。

‘I’m not a giant,’ he said.

“我不是巨人，”他说，

‘I’m a little boy and I don’t like this adventure.’

“我是一个小男孩，我不喜欢这次冒险。”

‘Giants don’t cry,’ said the people.

“巨人是不会哭的”，村民们说。

Perhaps he is a little boy but he looks like a giant to us.

也许他只是一个小男孩，只是看起来像巨人。

Perhaps he can help us.

也许他能帮助我们。

Kipper helped the villagers to mend their houses.

Kipper帮助村民修好了他们的房子。

He put back the broken roofs.

他把破掉了的屋顶修好放回原位。

‘Good old Kipper,’ everyone said.

“Kipper太能干了！”大家都称赞道。

‘The giant threw this big stone at us,’ said the people.

“巨人曾经朝我们扔了一块大石头，”村民们说。

‘We don’t want it here，can you put it outside the village?’

我们想把它搬走，你能帮我们吗？”

‘Yes,’ said Kipper, ‘I’ll try.’

“没问题，我可以试试。”Kipper说。

He picked up the stone and took it outside the village.

他搬起石头把它挪到了村外。

‘Good old Kipper!’ everyone called.

“干的好Kipper！”大家称赞道。

All the people liked Kipper.

所有人都喜欢Kipper。

‘Thank you,’ they said.‘You have helped us a lot.’

“谢谢你，你帮了我们大忙了。”人们说。

The village band played for him.

村里的乐队也为Kipper演奏起来。

The giant came back.

巨人回来了。

He was very angry when he saw Kipper in the village.

当他看到Kipper在村子里时，他非常生气。

‘I’m the giant here,’ he shouted.

“我才是这的巨人。”他吼道。

He ran towards the village.

他跑向村子里。

Crash! He fell over the stone.

咚！他被那块大石头绊倒了。

‘Ouch!’ he yelled.

“啊，好疼！”他叫道。

The people were frightened but Kipper went to help the giant.

村民们都吓坏了，但是Kipper却走过去帮助他。

He picked up the giant’s things and put a bandage round his head.

Kipper把他的东西捡起来，在他头上缠上了绷带。

Kipper was bigger than the giant.

Kipper比巨人还要大。

‘Be a good giant,’ said Kipper.

“做一个好的巨人吧！”Kipper说。

‘Stop being angry and the people will like you.’

“不要生气了，村民们就会喜欢你。”

So the giant stopped being angry.

因此，巨人就不再生气了。

‘I’ll try to be good,’ he said.

“我会尽量成为一个好人的。”他说。

‘Hooray!’ shouted the people.‘Let’s have a party!’

“太好了！”村民欢呼起来，“咱们开个派对吧！”

The key began to glow.

这时候，魔法钥匙又开始发光了。

‘It’s time for me to go now,’ said Kipper.

“我该走了。”Kipper说。

‘Goodbye. Thank you for the party.’

“再见了！谢谢你们的派对。”

The magic took Kipper home.

魔法书把Kipper带回了家。

‘Nobody likes an angry giant,’ said Kipper.

“没有人喜欢生气的巨人。”Kipper说。

‘What an adventure!’

“这真是一场奇妙的冒险！”
